It all started in the narrow lanes of Daryaganj, Old Delhi,my birth place, where the air itself seemed laced with the aroma of spices. For me, food wasn’t just nourishment; it was history, heritage, and memory. My grandfather, Khushal Chand, was the keeper of this heritage. Known in the lanes of Old Delhi for his refined taste, he collected recipes and spice secrets from chefs, traders, and legendary kitchens, preserving them with pride. What he built wasn’t just a collection of blends, it was a legacy, passed down through instinct, tradition, and love.

Life carried me far from the spice-laden lanes of Daryaganj. I built a life in Dubai, journeyed through cities across continents, and today I call Canada home. Yet with every step away from Delhi, two truths followed me, inescapable, undeniable, and impossible to forget.

First, I realized that the spices exported from India often carried more purity, aroma, and strength than what we found in our own kitchens back home. Second, I saw that the so-called “Delhi food” served across the world rarely tasted like Delhi at all. The soulful depth of Mughlai gravies, the harmony of Old Delhi masalas, and the richness of authentic recipes were all missing.

That realisation lit a fire within me. If the streets of Daryaganj, my grandfather’s world, could nurture flavours so timeless, why should the world taste anything less? Why should purity be lost in the very birthplace of spice?

This is why I created Gourmet Rack, to honour my grandfather’s memory and carry forward what he safeguarded for generations. Every spice we choose is export-quality, every blend crafted to echo the soul of Old Delhi. Free from additives and shortcuts, each pack is my promise to you: flavour, just as Khushal Chand believed it should be.
